Almost all big European capitals have their own zoological garden, and that is true for Lisbon as well. The Zoo is located about a 13 minute metro ride from the city center, which is almost nothing, so if you come with some children to Lisbon and want a family friendly program, then the combination of a metro ride and the zoo should be perfect.
As you travel to the Zoo using public transportation and the metro the name of the metro stop that will stop just by the zoo is Jardim Zoológico (blue line). The entrance fee for adults and children above 11 years is 19 Euro. What makes the zoo a great place to be is the daily shows. Because, every single day visitors can enjoy watching the feeding of the sea lions, watching a dolphin show, the feeding of pelicans and in addition visitors can enjoy a cable car inside the zoo area.
During the main season the zoo is open from 10.00 till 20.00, while it closes at 18.00 during the winter season.
